Adapting your leadership style is essential but if you’re not careful, it can feel exhausting.
In this episode, Ben explains how to shift your style to suit different situations – whether it’s being more direct in a crisis or more outgoing when networking, while keeping it sustainable.
He draws on personality psychology research, including insights from Brian Little’s work on “personal projects,” to help leaders recognise when it’s worth stretching themselves and when to restore their energy.
The goal: flexible, people-focused leadership that won’t compromise your wellbeing.

The word that comes to mind while listening to this is “authenticity”. Adapting my leadership style doesn’t mean I’ve “sold out” or strayed from my core values. It does mean that I value my role and am paying attention to what will best serve my team in a given moment or situation. I can be authentically adaptable when it’s called for and remain anchored in what works for me and what I value.
Thanks, Ben–thought-provoking!
Absolutely Liz – authentically adaptable is a great way of putting it!
