Firstly, hand-writing slows you down. Slowing down helps you to process events and feelings more thoroughly.

Second, research indicates that you are more likely to learn and retain information by hand-writing rather than typing.

Lastly, when typing is available, it probably means you’re on a digital device that can do lots of things. Which means you probably have access to email, the internet and lots of other distractions.

Distractions will reduce the effectiveness of your reflective practice.
